The single factor that defines a successful project is the quality of the canvas. While many kits look similar on a screen, I have analyzed buyer sentiment to see which ones actually hold paint well. My goal is to guide you away from frustration and toward a professional finish. Before you paint your letterbox numbers, let us look at the rankings for these six paint-by-number kits.
1. Mowana Paint by Numbers Kit for Adults – Hydrangeas Adult Paint by Numbers for Beginners on Canvas with Frame and Easel, Easy Acrylic Oil Painting by Number Kits 8×12 inch
This kit earns its ranking because it includes an attached easel, which makes it a fantastic choice for those who lack a dedicated workspace. You get a firm 8×12 inch canvas that keeps your lines sharp, and the floral theme offers a forgiving pattern for beginners.
In my view, the inclusion of the frame is the biggest value driver here. It saves you the trouble of hunting for mounting hardware later.
Buyers appreciate the included easel for small tabletop workspaces.
The 8×12 size is compact enough for quick painting sessions.
Floral patterns are often chosen for their forgiving nature regarding line precision.

2. Kidstique Customize Your Personalized DIY Paint-by-Numbers kit Using a Photo of Your Choice. Great Gift idea for Valentine's Day, Mother's Day, or Father's Day 12×16
This kit is primarily for those who want a highly personal touch, such as creating a custom gift for a family member or friend. Because it uses your own image, the result is truly one of a kind.
I find that the 12×16 size is the ideal dimension for capturing fine details in a portrait or custom scene. Just keep in mind that your final quality depends heavily on the resolution of the photo you submit.
Users favor this for sentimental gifts like anniversaries or birthdays.
The custom process requires a clear, high-contrast photo for the best results.
The 12×16 surface area provides enough room for meaningful detail.

3. Texture of Dreams Personalized Paint by Numbers Kit for Adults, Acrylic Painting Oil Painting on Framed & Stretched Canvas, Customized DIY Paint by Numbers Set Painting for Beginners (12" x 16")
An unexpected feature of this kit is the pre-stretched canvas, which arrives ready for you to mount immediately. This removes the common headache of dealing with loose or sagging fabric, which is why I rank it as the top choice.
When you look at the overall construction, it is clear this kit prioritizes durability. It provides the most professional foundation for your letterbox numbers or artistic displays.
The stretched canvas is widely cited as the most professional option in this group.
Users report that the included acrylics offer consistent coverage.
The 12×16 frame size is a standard choice for home displays.

4. CraftBliss Black Lab Paint by Numbers Kits for Adults Beginner 12 x 16 Inch
The most common buyer complaint with this kit is the complexity of the small segments, which can be difficult for those without a steady hand or a magnifying glass. However, if you are a fan of animal portraits, the final result is often quite rewarding.
I think it is important to balance this limitation against the vibrant color palette provided. It is a solid choice if you have the patience to work through the finer details.
Animal lovers frequently choose this kit for its specific subject matter.
The smaller paint sections require high attention to detail.
The 12×16 size is large enough to show off the finished portrait.

5. 4 Pack Paint by Numbers Kit for Kids with Frame – Wooden Easel 8×8 inch
This kit serves as a lighter, more approachable alternative to the single-panel kits mentioned previously, as it offers four smaller surfaces instead of one. It is perfect for budding artists who might feel overwhelmed by a larger, singular canvas.
To my eye, the 8×8 inch format makes these sets highly manageable for short attention spans. It is an excellent way to practice technique without committing to a massive project.
The four-pack configuration is popular for group activities or children.
Each 8×8 panel is easy to finish in a single sitting.
The included wooden easel provides a complete setup for young painters.

6. Caydo 4 Pack Custom Paint by Numbers from Photo, A4
This kit became popular because of its bulk-friendly approach, allowing you to order multiple prints at once for group events. It maintains a strong reputation for consistency, though it is best suited for those who need a high volume of projects.
I think the A4 size is quite practical for smaller spaces, though you should verify that it meets your display needs before ordering. It is a reliable option for bulk projects where consistency matters.
Bulk buyers prefer this for its reliable output across multiple units.
The A4 size is well-suited for smaller, decorative wall displays.
Consistent print quality is a recurring theme in user observations.

Choosing Between Them
I suggest the Texture of Dreams kit for your project because the framed and stretched canvas provides a level of structure that the other options simply do not match. If you are aiming for a refined look for your letterbox numbers, this is the one I would pick to ensure your work feels like a professional gallery piece. The Mowana kit serves the hobbyist well, while the Kidstique and Caydo kits are better suited for those prioritizing customization and volume respectively.
Please keep in mind that these kits are designed for indoor artistic use. None of these products are specifically formulated for outdoor weather resistance, so you will need to apply a clear, UV-protective sealant if you plan to mount your finished numbers on an exterior letterbox. Taking this extra step will protect your work from fading and moisture damage over time.
